The possibility of introducing call centre activity into Nether Road, Galashiels to run in tandem with normal Assembly and Fulfilment activity has been on the table for a while having been a point of discussion at several Senior Management meetings.
The initial plan was to re-fit a part of the building and turn it into a showcase area so that we had a physical location to show potential clients the layout, the feel of the place and how the agents would be seated with their PC’s, phones headsets etc.
However, things progressed even more quickly than we thought and as soon as we had we set up the showcase area, we were immediately entering into implementation dialogue with the well known retail giant Argos to put contact centre agents into Gala.
As well as being a current client here in Sykes Fulfilment Centre, Argos are an existing client to Sykes Contact Centre in Edinburgh but were involved in reviewing alternative options outside of Sykes for their UK and non multi-lingual business.
Following further discussions, Argos agreed the best option was to transfer their business into Galashiels which is has set us on a new exciting road that will certainly bring about lots of changes as the new area is made functional.
