On-Demand CDR Replication |
|
|
|
Overview: A global manufacturer of computer peripherals found their consumers were experiencing difficulties downloading large documentation and driver files from the web site. The client required a cost effective way to satisfy this relatively small but important demand. |
Service Requirements:
- Ability to take orders from pan-European consumers 24 x 7 over the Web
- Burn files onto a CDR for easy installation by the consumer
- Linked processes to track orders from the initial placement to final delivery
- Version Control Processes
- Cost effective way to respond quickly to consumers

Solution: We designed a form which incorporated drop down menus that consumers could complete on the client web site enabling them to select the relevant drivers and documentation for their product model. The consumer then received an auto-email to confirm their request was being processed and the estimated delivery time.
On a daily basis these orders are downloaded to our systems. The CDRs are then burnt with the required files, overprinted with the client logo and file name, packaged and mailed for delivery to the consumer with 2-3 working days.
Due to the increasing number of versions that a consumer could request we set-up a server to host a library of all driver and documentation files. We agreed with the client a process whereby we could be notified of new documentation and driver versions becoming available and update the server accordingly.
Benefits: Producing CDRs on-demand proved to be a cost effective solution as it removed the threat of stock obsolescence to the client. The consumer experience was further enhanced through the simple ordering process. |
